Essay 1:  TIMELINE

Optional, extra-credit pre-reading activity: Before reading
the stories and poems in this unit, spend some time thinking
about an experience that set up a challenge to you as you passed
from childhood to adulthood.  Send an email message
describing this experience to the class email list at WebCT.

Read Unit 1 readings. (Read a total of three stories, one from
each subunit.)

Send your topic descriptions for Essay 1 to WebCT.

Draft the Unit 1 paper about one (or more) of the readings.|
