Getting Started:
The chapter on making a
portfolio gives exmaples of how to use self-reflection
in situations such as
applying for a position or gaining entrance to a school.
Being able to do honest
self-evaluation is a key to entry in many fields.
Read these sections from:
(BR) and (PEN)
BR) Subjective writing / narrative
style, p. 76 and 144.
(PEN): CH. 7 Writing to Reflect, pp. 75-86.
* Do not complete the
exercises listed in these chapters (unless you really want to).

Try one or more of
these Modes of Development:
List your strengths
and weaknesses as a writer, a student, a member
of a community.
Compare before and
after. before you started college and now, for example.
Trace a process such
as how you overcame a barrier in your life and those
barriers or "boxes"
that still hem you in.
REVISION TIP: After you tell about you,
think of a specific HIGH STAKES
audience and rewrite to suit that audience (amployer, grad school, etc.) Delete
what is not needed from draft 1. Use the model E5 below as a guide.
