Process 1
Freewriting
Activities The
following activities are designed to help you generate ideas for your Reference Source
Article Comparison paper. Please complete these activities before (or while) you draft
your paper.
- Read for examples and
ideas. Read one of the essays listed on Process 1
Readings. While you read, look for points of structure. What is interesting in
the way that the writer paints events and details of people's apprearance? The My
Antonia selection is a good example of description. Do you agee that this writer
make wise use of detail?
- Make a "Goodyear
blimp" brainstorm. Decide whether you are going to concentrate upon the scene, people, or
actions. Once you have established whether this is a paper about something that
happened, someone who impressed you, or somewhere you recall, then make an organizational
graph, chart or model. The blimp works as well as any.
- Send a freewrite email
message. Once you've selected a memory and and have a rough set of ideas or some kind
of an outline or zero draft, send a message to the class at WEBCT, in which you tell us:
how you decided on what to write and how you think you'll organize it as noted above..
After completing the above
activities, draft your essay!
