To: Pima Community College Health Related Professions Admission Office,

Good opening. Direct and clear.

I am requesting to be considered for the Nursing Program in the spring 2004. I see that the
college wants nurses who are committed to reaching out to the community and who have excellent people
skills in addition to a good academic grade point average.  I fit the first requirements and also have the
grades you seek. .I have not only completed all of the prerequisites but have successfully completed all of
the co-requisite courses, with the exception of writing 102. I have done so maintaining a 3.94 grade point
average.

FORECAST points to come.

I feel I am an exemplary candidate for several reasons. First of all, I truly enjoy nursing. I have
been a Licensed Practical Nurse for ten years and have found it to be a rewarding profession. I have the
innate ability and desire to comfort and care for others.

Secondly, I have proven my determination and perseverance to accomplish my goal. Maintaining a
3.94 GPA may not be too difficult a task for the traditional student, but for the nontraditional student, it has
been a major feat. All the while, I have continued to work thirty hours or more per week and I am a wife
and mother of two school age children.

Finally, once I become a registered nurse, I’m confident I will be an asset to my future employer. I
have always demonstrated and will continue to demonstrate impeccable integrity and professionalism. I am
self motivated, and accept challenges with energy and enthusiasm.

Becoming a registered nurse has been a lifelong dream of mine. I look forward to expanding the skills
and knowledge I currently possess as an LPN. I look forward to the autonomy I will have when caring for
patients. I look forward to the new challenges and roles I will have as a RN.

I realize in order to attain this goal, I need to complete the required education. I can only do this upon
acceptance into the nursing program. Once again I feel I’ve not only met but exceeded the basic requirements.
In doing so, I have grown both cognitively and socioemotionally. This growth has already benefited my family
as well as the patients I care for as an LPN. I know that the training I will get in the program will enable me to
become more proficient as a nurse and will open the door to so many moor opportunities in the nursing field.

What's in it for audience?  Don't merely tout your own qualities but remind audience of how
you will help them.

Both the nursing college and I will gain if I am admitted to your program.  I feel I possess a positive
and eager attitude that will enable me to learn the required practical and theoretical skills to become an exceptional
registered nurse.

As I mentioned earlier, nursing has always been rewarding, but as an LPN I’ve been limited to practice
within my scope. I look forward to not having such limits placed and working to my fullest potential. I also look
forward to having the professional respect I feel I’ve always deserved.

I come highly recommended by my current employer and physicians.  All have been very supportive
and encouraging throughout my schooling. They have also expressed their wishes to retain me when I become
a registered nurse.  References are available upon request.

Thank you for considering me as a nursing candidate in the spring.

Sincerely,
