HOW ESSAY TWO HELPS:
Using its Ideas in Essays 3
& 4
ESSAY TWO is Comparing
Reference Sources.
You will need to spend time in library and on the Internet to find good library
sources!
You learn from Essay 2 how to take apart a total of 4 to 6 library reference sources
on a topic that has arguable sides to it. CLICK here for MODEL ESSAY 2!

You will evaluate the types of
evidence that supports the claims in a reference source and follow a
chart of the most effective types of
evidence. Use underlining and highlighters!

Examples
to mark as you read: Named quoted experts,
statistics, research studies.
The effective (and lack of effective) evidence you find in each library reference source will give ideas for your
argument in Argument Essay 3 .

To make your case strong, cite weak sources from the other side. Cite strong sources to support
your side.

And, of course, you can recycle those 4 to 6 articles and/or book
chapters for use in the Cause
and Effect Essay 4.

In Cause and Effect Essay 4, you will cite your sources to show the major causes in this topic of
your choice and argue for some causes and effects over others. The main points will be established
by your close reading of sources in Essay 2. Any topic has its causes and effects. Think about it.

But Essay 5 is a high
stakes letter to some target audience you will research online. You may
not use
anything
from your previous research because this is personal and reflective writing, not
documented.
