This course will use various
sources of texts:TEXTS
- Online texts: These, of
course, are just a mouse click away!
- Tufte, Edward R. Visual and
Statistical Thinking: Displays of
Evidence for Making Decisions. Cheshire, CT: Graphics Press, 1997.
ISBN: 0-9613921-3-4. Available at Amazon.com for about
$5.00.
- Electronic reserve texts
There is no problem gaining access to the electronic reserve texts.
You will get the password and login on the first day of class.
Email me at glomc@DakotaCom.net anytime for
the password.
I debated whether to use a
hardcopy text for your class, but most things
such a text would cover are found online. This use of online sources is
common for technocal writing classes, since texts can run up to $75 per
book.
MATERIALS
You will need a pack of
3.5"computer disks.
OPTIONAL:
I suggest the option of using a zip disk or writeable CD for this who know
how to burn a CD. We have that capability on terminals in CCIT 319.
Later in the class,
you will need a paper 2-pocket folder for written units
that you hand in to me. I prefer that you get a separate folder for
each unit
to help you keep all side matter organized.
Poster Presentations: As of right now, I am leaning toward
just having
you draw your posters on the whiteboard. So buy a NEW pack of erasable
markers in several colors.
Copies of drafts in
multiples as required for small groups.
I shall try to add more to this list, if I think of anything.
